Plans for an Iranian International Film Festival have left Western movie critics cutting off their thumbs.
Fuelling the controversy is Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s appointment of Syria’s President Bashar Assad to the Judging Panel. This move alone has enraged international NGOs, most notably Countries Without Borders, whose founder just completed a 3-month sentence re editing his documentary on prison brutality in a Syrian jail.
